Last month in July I spent almost every Saturday in the garden. I'd wake early, go for my morning hike and then had an insatiable need to don the garden gloves and put my hands and knees in dirt. It was my grounding, my landing after the planetary whirlwinds of of April, May & June. I planted tomatoes, zucchini, squash, more tomatoes, beans, a sprawling lemon cucumber is muscling in on a lone eggplant and the spinach, chard and carrots are wee infants reaching their leaves upward to the sun for life. All the while Pablo, our kitty, my lion followed me about. Pouncing on lizards, darting between the tall grasses and taunted by hummingbirds. He loves when we spend time outside. Afterall it's his favorite place to be! This month kicks off with the new moon in Leo, our beautiful lion, bringing us off the wall and gently, lovingly, shoving us onto the dance floor.
"The new moon in Leo, arriving on Tuesday, August 2nd at 1:44 PM, is asking us to rededicate ourselves to our reason for coming to this planet in the first place. It’s asking us to polish off the tarnished vessel we walk around in and remember how to shine. Saturn is stationing direct a week and a half after the new moon. Any planet that is stationing retrograde or direct demands our attention. Saturn teaches us about our boundaries, our responsibilities, our authority, our need to show up again and again and again in order to master what it is we came here to master. Saturn sets things in stone. It makes them real. It refuses to deny or negate its duties."
"Quantum physics tells us that no situation exists independently of the person viewing it. Our attitudes and beliefs shape the reality we see. If you expect to see good things, you get good things – though it may take time for them to manifest, and you might have to keep trying different tactics. Steady Saturn trines this New Moon, reminding us that focusing steadily on a desired outcome will ultimately pay off. It may take until after Saturn turns forward on Aug. 12 for things to crystallize. But no matter what you want to manifest, the ultra-creative Leo New Moon can help. Start with this simple but effective affirmation: “There is a solution to this problem, and I easily find it now.” Make up your mind that the right solution will come, then follow your heart wherever it leads you."
"...the collective energy is low and directed toward conservation but ready to expend energy in new expressions. Leo’s extroverted nature extends this New Moon’s manifestation outwardly and its fiery element helps to vitalize and nourish willpower to renew any lost enthusiasm. Carrying the rulership of the Sun, Leo’s signature at the start of August can help you to revitalize and begin a process of recovering purpose, strength, presence, and gravitas.
New life is being put into motion at this lunar beginning. Never underestimate the life force--the will to live. It moves through us biologically as well as spiritually. Whether you’re conscious of it or not, it moves far beyond your body, shaping the experiences throughout your daily life. If you desire something, know that the life force will see to it that you have the opportunity to attain it. With this Leo New Moon, perhaps you simply need a reminder of the joy and playfulness that is an essential part of our human experience."
And finally from the powerful Sarah Varcas....
“Both brutal and nurturing in equal measure, current planetary activity speaks of great conflict and great healing, but the former may precede the latter with immense force. ...This fragmented surface may be our career that falls apart to reveal its empty heart just when we thought we should be at the top of our game. It may be a relationship that dissolves into dust when we need it to sustain us the most.
It may be our health as it falters and fails, a wider breakdown in social order or an unavoidable sense of deepening unease that something in our world is very wrong and in need of healing before it’s too late. we all, at some level or other, must be broken open to receive the truth and stop living our personal lie.
The multifarious aspects of our world are so intertwined it isn’t possible to stand apart and claim no share in its fabric. Neptune now retrograde in its own sign of Pisces reminds us we each arise from and return to the same source. We wrap our body and mind, heart and soul, around our presence and call it ‘me’. We feel ourselves as individuals, which indeed we are at a relative level. But in the absolute we are simply parts of a whole, each uniquely fashioned to play its’ specific part. Reflection on this inter-connectedness is vital now, to counter the movement toward polarization which leads only to ever greater conflict in the end."
