Whomever said a "woman's work is never done" was a prophet in their own right. It seems with each day my To-Do list magically morphs and expands out of tiny particles. It's like watching sea monkeys grow in a glass of water!
Every day in the wee morning hours, I create the daily To-Do List. I'm a list person. If I don't create a list, if I don't somehow capture a thought about something that needs to get done down on paper, it will drift around in my head like a tattered raft lost at sea. And so after I wake, say my prayers and intentions, practice a little Reiki on myself, I rise and shuffle out to the kitchen. The cat leads the way to his bowl through the morning darkness as we squint into the light of the pantry. Afterall, "FEED CAT" has been telepathically programmed into my brain by him since about 4am. That done, I pour myself a ritual cup of coffee and bask the in the glorious blue light of my laptop.
These days, my life has a different vibe than it did 10 years ago. With a family, a home, a business, and the dizzy drama of middle school 24 hours goes by in a nano-second. To retain my sanity I've taken up this morning practice of the To-Do List. Moreover, as I create the daily list I've found it mutually important to place items that nourish me right up there with the laundry and answering emails.
Do What You Love Every Day!
My daily schedule includes 3 columns, Work (colored yellow for 3rd chakra), Home (colored red for root chakra) & Nourish (colored orange for 2nd chakra). It also includes a running list of home projects, work projects so they don't get lost at sea and my Nourishment List of things that I can draw upon which help me stay vibrant. Including the latter on my list give me permission to do something I love every day!
It's good for your 2nd Chakra!
Whether you're married or single, guy or gal, if we don't put play in our lives, we constrict in our 2nd chakra. 2nd chakra is that vibrant, colorful, playful , creative center located at our low belly. It's our inner 5 year-old that just wants to climb trees and color. It governs the elimination from the digestive tract, the bladder and reproductive organs.
With the disappearance of the traditional 40-hour, 9-5 work week, it's easy to lose sight of work-life balance. We find ourselves stuck in our 3rd chakra, the one that powers us through the day, keeps us driven and focused. It's our "Get Shit Done" chakra, but if we allow this to solely lead us then we reach burnout, irritability, and adrenal fatigue. Whether it's a yoga class, meditation, reading a book, or meeting up with friends, it's equally important to do something you love every day, even if it's something small, just do it!
