At the beginning of this year, I was guided towards Vancouver. It was one of those insights that downloaded through my right ear from a faraway place whispering, “Vancouver...”
and I felt my bones responding, “Yes.”
Of course I immediately went online to book a trip to Vancouver, but in the process something didn’t feel right, as if it wasn’t something I was supposed to do just yet. Then it dawned on me, why would I be going there? What would I go there for? Would it be for vacation? For work? To teach a retreat? Why the hell was the universe whispering Vancouver in my ear?! So rather than booking a trip, I waited for more of the picture to reveal itself. A month went by, three months went by and then the idea began to fade.
Another insight took its place, “Yoga Teacher Training”
“ookaaayy...yoga teacher training” my bones replied.
So off I went searching for Yoga Teacher Training...was I supposed to go to Vancouver for this training? After about a week of searching and making myself nutty, I stopped.
“The Pad” is what I heard next.
“The Pad? You mean the power yoga studio down the street?” my mind replied, “that place is all power yoga, I don’t even like power yoga. I wanted to do my training at White Lotus in Santa Barbara..” I whined.
“The Pad...” it whispered again, insistently.
I researched The Pad Studios. Not only did it have a teacher training that absolutely fits my schedule, the teacher is a Reiki master and...she’s from Vancouver. woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo.... So I enrolled, I’ll be doing it this fall and trusting an even bigger picture will be revealed as I venture on this new path.
This month’s full moon phase in Sagittarius is prompting us to pause before getting the full answer. And we’re feeling a little ticked off because of it. We don’t like to pause, we are uncomfortable with limbo and in our fast-paced culture, we need the info ‘like yesterday!’ Too bad. Because guess what, the universe is saying ‘no more shortcuts!’ Get quiet and mindful first.
When we direct our questions to a higher source, we often get clips of information. Our pattern is to take that information and run with it, even though we may not have the full download. Taking action without all the information just leaves us feeling frustrated and stunted. Yet when we are able to listen to the information, allow it to settle, accept the limbo, then there is more space for the insights to continue their flow.
Take the metaphor of stirring sand into a glass of water and watching it settle to the bottom. As it settles, there becomes more clarity in the water. Lately it feels like we are being guided to pause with the insights we receive. Let them settle in, see how it feels in our bodies, our minds. Let the entirety of the realization, the a-ha! arrive. Instead we are so hellbent on taking action that we miss the full download and we’re left taking all these actions, then frustrated that we still feel lost. Another analogy is someone asking you to go the the grocery store and you race down to the store without knowing what they wanted. You’re left in the middle of the store not knowing why you’re there, trying to reach them on your cell phone for a list of items you’re supposed to get. You’re frustrated and in limbo until they return your call (believe it or not, this happens in some variation with me and my beau).
The full moon and even the universe aren’t taunting us. These energies from a higher source aren’t sadistic, power-hungry megalomaniacs. We are all held and supported in a vast and loving net whether we are at a crossroads or in massive upheaval. We may not always see it or feel it but we are. Our job is to continue to be curious. Ask why are these things happening for us? Wait for the insight, rather than pushing an experience away or try to move forward from a linear mindset. Once you get a piece of information, be even more curious about how it applies to the puzzle you’re in. Be in dialog with your body about how this insight shifts things around. Be in communication with your intuitive mind about what feels true. This is what you can be ‘doing’ in that limbo space of the sand settling to the bottom of the glass. Once it settles, see what action evolves from it. Then ask for more sand in the water and stir it all over again!
