I'm often asked,"Why do I get so hot when practicing Reiki?"
I've been known to have the coldest Reiki hands in the biz. Yet there are also many times when my entire body becomes so hot that I wish I could twitch my nose during the session to fly open the windows. There are two schools of thought, both of which I believe.
First, it is believed that when Archangel Michael is present with us in our work we begin to feel heat. He is known to carry a sword of light which helps to clear unwanted attachments, helping us to clear our energy. Archangel Michael is our protector and he works closely with lightworkers, shining his blue light around us, sealing and protecting us from lower vibrational energies. So when we practice Reiki, we might encounter a moment when we begin to unknowingly take on someone's energy or perhaps other lower vibrational spirits enter the space. Archangel Michael comes in to shield us from these energies and we begin to feel sensations of heat as his source of protection shines down around us.
Secondly, when we are practicing Reiki and encounter a spot which might feel dense and still isn't moving we might begin to also feel heat. This can be likened to a car engine which is overheating. In other words, we are sending energy into something which might already have too much energy or simply isn't ready for full healing. As loving Reiki practitioners we want to offer our healing by sending as much energy as we can to this spot, so we may launch into overdrive, causing us to become overheated as the energy begins to backfire on us. The best option here is to back off from the spot. If you've spent at least 10 minutes with it and it still doesn't move, then it's helpful to say a loving prayer such as, "I honor your healing process with compassion and unconditional love. May it find healing in its own time." If you are at least a Level 2 practitioner you may also draw the Power and/or the Mental Clearing symbols. If you are a Master, then the Master symbol is always beneficial here.
Finally always care for yourself. You may decide to hover your hands or stand back for a bit before engaging. Be sure you're hydrating before and between sessions. Also be sure there is proper ventilation in the room. If there is a window, open it between your sessions. Simply stay connected with prayer, meditation and proper clearing. This will help you strengthen as the beautiful Reiki healer you are meant to be.
