The New Moon in Leo happens Saturday, August 12th at 2:57a.m. PST.
When we think of lion, there are three images that come to mind. (note: I use the masculine here as Leo is a fire sign and fire represents the sacred masculine in all of us, man or woman.) King of the jungle, the rockstar center of his circle, commanding respect and attention. The fierce hunter, charging ahead and taking control of his biggest prey in a feat of accomplishment.
Finally we see the languid lion sprawled in the shade with a full belly of content, able to fully relax as there is no fear of any other natural predators around.
Sitting on the hillside amidst the tall, golden grass in the late morning sun, I too, felt this languid state of being. No agenda, no constraints, no grasping of time. A deep embodiment that comes when ego subsides and we allow ourselves the space to be informed by spirit.
We arrive at this embodiment as we have passed the initiation of last month's Full Moon Aquarius. I say initiation because it guided us to the crossroads of expansion and asked us to dig new depths into our heart despite our egoic holdings of shoulds. That was a tricky one for all of us, especially as we try to hold our boundaries with others.
We also pass through the Lionsgate on 8/8/18 which thins the veils of higher dimensions and consciousness. Together with New Moon in Leo we're guided out of the intensity and into a centered heart, taking the seat of our own internal throne. Grounded in this new seat we realize the only one who can knock us off is ourselves, our old beliefs and systems. So be mindful which part of your ego wants to be King of the Jungle and hold steady in your spirit.
Sitting in an embodied place of power, we bask in contentment, recharge for any tasks ahead and gain new inspiration for creative pursuits. More importantly we have a new capacity for being love in the face of anything that comes our way.

Shadow Leo can also hide behind a bravado of arrogance and superiority to compensate for deep seated fears of not being enough to be loved and recognised for one’s unique light and creative gifts.
This new moon may see many sit in the cave of new moon to face their fears, like the archetypal hero Hercules. Those who don’t may unconsciously create a drama to project their unacknowledged shadow outwardly and make their discord about someone else rather than looking at themselves.
This is the necessary contemplation if we are to live fully from the heart choosing that which ‘feels most expansive & resonant with our soul essence’ rather than cowering to the mind’s pressure to do ‘what you think you should do / do the right thing / be sensible / or ensure security at all costs’.

Guide to Setting New Moon in Leo Intentions
New moons are great astrological timings to help bring your intentions to full manifestation. I like writing 5-10 solid intentions based on what the current New Moon rules (see samples below). You may keep them in a journal, place them in a jar, I’ve even deposited mine into the hollow of my favorite tree. The key is to write them from your heart, then send them up freely to the Universe so you may be graced with their fruition in good time.
Remember, these intentions may not come to manifest overnight or even during the month. It’s important to release your hold on them and allow what is in your highest alignment to come through.
