New Moon Update: Libra

New Moon in Libra happens Saturday Sept 28, 2019 at 11:27 am

The alarm on my phone went off at 4:45am. Yes, it was intentional, and yes, I hit snooze for thirty more minutes. I rolled out of bed, greeted by our cat, Pablo who waits patiently for me on the bedside table. My husband was not in our bed, he slept on the sofa again after a design project consumed him until early morning hours in his studio across the breezeway of our home. As I heard him snore loudly from the living room, I was grateful that he gave me the option of a good night’s sleep.

Draping my robe around me, I crept past him towards the kitchen, poured coffee, fed Pablo, and snuck quietly outside to the deck which offered an expansive view of the still dark sky. Constellations glimmered above. I picked out the ones I knew, Orion’s Belt, the Little Dipper, The Seven Sisters of Pleiades. A shooting star flew by over our plum tree and the moon hung heavy in the east making its way to the dark side, into the Libra New Moon.

It’s in this quiet, with nothing but the owls making their final bass notes before dawn’s rising, that you realize that life is so fleeting, it’s so beautiful, it’s so confounding and it’s so much more important than the minuscule bull malarkey that we stress and worry over every damn day.

I always feel the themes of the moon phases before reading about them. So when I read Jan Spiller’s New Moon themes for Libra, it didn’t surprise me that it governs diplomacy, balance, cooperation, getting along, partnership and issues related to adrenal health and kidneys (both of which hold fear).

We recently had a dear friend of ours suddenly pass from a massive stroke. And man, nothing will course correct your own life when faced with devastating grief of someone’s mortality.

So my hope for you, is that you take this New Moon phase to re-evaluate what is important, to discover the gift you’ve been given each day, to put your focus and energy towards doing something good and positive rather than reacting with anger and defensiveness.

Libra is the scale, the balance. Whatever you are stressing about, the invitation is to release your grip and trust it will all balance out in its own time.

Guide to Setting New Moon in Libra Intentions

New moons are great astrological timings to help bring your intentions to full manifestation. I like writing 5-10 solid intentions based on what the current New Moon rules (see samples below). You may keep them in a journal, place them in a jar, I’ve even deposited mine into the hollow of my favorite tree. The key is to write them from your heart, then send them up freely to the Universe so you may be graced with their fruition in good time.

Remember, these intentions may not come to manifest overnight or even during the month. It’s important to release your hold on them and allow what is in your highest alignment to come through.

In her book, New Moon Astrology, Jan Spiller defines the theme for our intentions in this New Moon. Libra rules:

Marriage: partnerships, agreements, sharing, interdependence

Sample intentions:

"I want to easily attract and begin a happy marriage that aligns with the characteristics I desire in a relationship."

"I want the exchange of love, support and partnership to re-enter my marriage"
